This is OTW’s annual 3-2-1 challenge … 3 peaks, 2 counties, 1 day! If you’re chasing peaks, panoramic views, and a solid mountain workout, this trail trio has you covered. At 8,847 ft of elevation, the summit at Mount Pinos offers a sweeping 360° view of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and on clear days, the Mojave Desert.
Sawmill Mountain sits just west of Mount Pinos at around 8,822 ft. Expect a quieter climb through pine forests and open ridgelines, with rewarding vistas at the top. Grouse Mountain sits at roughly 8,586 ft, a slightly lower peak with rocky slopes and occasional meadows.
